Kings Dancers Auditions 2024-25 

Sacramento Kings Entertainment is seeking talented, dedicated dancers to join their 2024-25 season. These dancers will perform at home games, represent the Kings both on and off the court, and act as ambassadors for the organization. We’re looking for professional, hard-working, high-energy individuals with great performance quality.

KINGS DANCERS QUALIFICATIONS
  • Be an experienced, versatile dancer who has a strong performance quality and advanced skill.  
  • Be athletically fit to perform at a high energy and skill level for the entire 2024-25 season.   
  • Be a Kings fan! 
  • Have reliable transportation and reside in or be willing to move to the greater Sacramento area to be available for games, rehearsals and appearances. 
  • Agree to a one-year contract agreement as a part-time employee with the understanding of fulfilling the job duties of a Kings Dancer.  This is a paid position for all work throughout the season. 
  • Be available to represent the Sacramento Kings in various roles, including attending community appearances and always being an ambassador of the organization.  
  • Must be 18 years old by Oct. 1, 2024.
AUDITION TIMELINE

Saturday, June 1: Applications Open – Apply Here

Wednesday, July 24: Applications, Headshots and Resumes due by 11:59pm  

Friday, July 26: Auditions Day 1 – Round 1 - In person  
5:00pm: Registration Opens 
6:00pm: Auditions Begin

Semi-finalists will move on to Day 2. 

Saturday, July 27: Auditions Day 2 – Rounds 2 and 3 - In person  
8:00am: Doors Open 
9:00am: Auditions Begin

Finalists will move on to Day 3.  

Sunday, July 28: Auditions Day 3 – Finals, Interviews & Rehearsals - In Person 
9:00am – 10:30am: Pre-scheduled Interview Sessions 
12:00pm – 3:00pm: Live Final Auditions

AUDITION REQUREMENTS
  • Must be able to attend the following mandatory events:  
    • Entire 3-day audition in person on July 26-28, 2024 
    • Mandatory team meeting on July 30, 2024  
    • Training Camp from August 8-11, 2024 
  • Must bring 1 current headshot and resume to auditions (stapled together)

    • Dancers who make it to the Finals on July 28 should be prepared to participate in short individual interviews wearing professional business attire.   
    • Dancers selected as finalists will perform in our live finals event at Golden 1 Center on Day 3 of auditions, July 28.  
  • Team Announcement 
    • The 2024-2025 Kings Dancers will officially be announced online on Monday, July 29. 
    • Dancers selected for the team must be available for a team meeting on the evening of July 30.
  • Training Camp & Onboarding 
    • Training Camp and Onboarding will take place August 8-11. Dancers must be available for these dates. 
LIVE FINALS

On Sunday, July 28 all finalists will be included in our live event held at Golden 1 Center. Dancers will perform before a live audience and the judges' panel. This event will be live streamed for fans to get an inside look at the audition process and waivers will be sent to all participants. All finalists will perform choreography taught at auditions, as well as their solos. More information will be announced at auditions.  

TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT

The 2024-25 Sacramento King Dancers will be announced online on Monday, July 29. All team members must be available for an in-person team meeting on the evening of July 30.  

WHAT TO WEAR

Ladies: Wear form-fitting athletic dance attire with performance hair and makeup, Bring sneakers and heels to auditions, non-marking heels with rubber soles. Burju heels are recommended.  

Men: Wear stylish, athletic attire that allows for movement and variety of style. Bring non-marking sneakers to auditions. 

If you’re invited to participate in an interview on Day 3, please plan to wear professional, business attire. 

FAQs
  1. Who can audition? 
    • Any individual who is 18 years of age or older by Oct. 1, 2024 can audition. 
  2. Are there height and weight requirements? 
    • No, there are no specific height or weight requirements. 
  3. How do I submit my audition materials? 
    • Please fill out the application here and submit your resume, headshot, and waiver.  Dancers are also asked to bring a copy of their resume and headshot to Day 1 of auditions.  
  4. What if I receive a Royal Ticket at prep class? 
    • If you receive a Royal Ticket at any prep class, you are automatically invited to Round 2 of auditions. Although you are guaranteed to proceed to Round 2, you are still required to attend Day 1 of auditions to learn the choreography we will showcase at the live finals on Day 3.  
  5. What are judges looking for during auditions? 
    • Judges evaluate technical ability, performance quality, stage presence, and overall dance skills. Confidence, energy, and passion also play a significant role. 
  6. How can I prepare for the choreography round? 
    • Attend prep classes. Practice the provided choreography thoroughly and pay attention to details. Train locally and be ready to dance in the styles of hip hop, jazz funk, and heels.  
  7. What happens during semifinals? 
    • Semifinals involve learning choreography for a dance routine and performing it for judges. Freestyle dancing will also be part of the evaluation. 
  8. When will the team be announced? 
    • The final team will be announced on July 29.
